So...it’s been like two years since I last posted around here, and it’s high time I got back to it. For those of you who don’t remember me (all of you), I was the plucky Brit with the bright yellow Vauxhall Corsa U Wot M8 Edition.
Ain’t she a peach? Well...a lemon. No wait...
Whatever. Anyway, this Friday just gone I waved goodbye to the Corsa after almost 3 years of genuinely enjoyable ownership. Was I sad? Duh. Will I miss it? Of course! What did I replace it with? Well...
I love me some JDM cars. Love ‘em. Fortunately I live right near a garage called Mission Motorsports who import all sorts of lovely things. They’re an awesome bunch of people, real enthusiast types with some fantastic cars that I intend to go back and document.
Anyway. One day they have this beautiful JDM DC2 Integra Type R parked outside, and the rest they say, is history.
1997. Tokyo car. Highly spec’d from factory and with a few tasty aftermarket parts that I’ll cover in a later post.
She’s really mine. I still have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. She scares the shit out of me.
I couldn’t love her more.

Hey I remember you! I still had my old Fiat Panda when you were last around. I’ve had three cars since then.
Congrats on the new car, looks great.

Hey, I remember you too! You’ve got an e36 compact as well as a Twingo now, right?
And thanks! Can’t say I was too upset to leave the ‘Corsa lyf’ behind.

Yeah stayed with a sensible little hatchback and then got a rwd toy to work on in my spare time. Had a Ford Mondeo earlier this year too but that was just a flip, decent car though.
Yeah I still dislike Corsas, not because of the car but because of the chav culture surrounding them. Shame a few idiots ruin things like that.

Most excellent choices for sure; always had a special little soft spot for the Twingo, since seeing early renditions of them dotted across France many years ago.
I’ll always love my old Corsa, but I’m with you when it comes to the community and culture. Never met a single other Corsa driver I liked, and I’m rather glad to be moving away to a different crowd.

Oh shit, thunderbee! I think I remember seeing your Corsa When I was still lurking haha. Love the upgrade. One day I want to have a dc2 something like that

I remember you too. We were chatting in the Oppo irc before you became an author IIRC. And congrats on the Honda!

Haha, it’s certainly been a while! I’ve been lurking for a little while myself, biding my time to make a comeback...

I believe so, yes; I’m actually surprised people remember me. And thank you! There is much braaap in my future.

Hey-o I remember the little Corsa!
The Teggy is a bit of an upgrade though. I’m slightly jealous because I’ve been really wanting a Japanese sports compact type thing lately. Congrats!

Woooo! I seem to recall you having an older Safari/Astro(?) van that just refused to die.
Thank you, it is indeed quite the upgrade for me and I’m already planning on getting some track action with the local Honda chapter next month. Get yerself some JDM!

Yeah the twingo is a decent little driver. Been 100% reliable and since I added the RS interior, really comfortable. Handles well too. Perfect daily driver. The BMW is much more fun though, hoping to swap in a larger engine some day.
Yeah its a shame when the community affects the ownership experience like that.

Holy wow it’s been that long. I still have that loathesome hunk of poo, but I’ve also had an E36 M3 and have sold that and bought an S10 recently.
I’m gonna have to wait and import some JDM because all the cool little preludes and integras have been ruined here.

Man, that’s still going? I’m honestly more impressed than anything.
Those are some righteous automotive choices my friend! I think I remember peeking around a while ago and seeing a silver M3 with angel eyes...
Gotta wait for that magical 25 year mark huh? Your time will come...

Still starts up as soon as you charge the battery. It’s like a big cockroach.
The S10 (while I love it) is mostly just to reliably get me through college until I can buy something interesting (read: unreliable) again. Though at least it’s a manual V6.
The M3 was... Interesting. I should’ve never bought it to be honest, but it was fun the year and a half I had it. It very, very rusty which ultimately led to me selling it.
25 years or risk it getting crushed!

Nice! I also saw you landed yourself a job in Southampton (congratulations!) if memory serves. I live in the neighbouring city of Portsmouth; come for a ride in the Teg sometime!

Thanks. It’s all go for me at the moment haha. Yeah for sure, I’m hoping to get a few southern oppos together for a meet if possible.

That’s almost eerie.
Can’t go wrong with a sweet manual pick-up, and that M3 looks sweeeeet, rust issues aside. As long as you had fun with it, that’s what counts!

Always good to meet another!
It’s loud. Previous owner in Japan put what we think is a Mugen exhaust on it, and she really braps. Corners well enough to rip my face off, which is fun! Hopefully getting some track time with another Honda friend next month.

Hello. You won’t remember me because I’ve only been posting since late 2014, but you’re the reason I wasn’t on speaking terms with Buick for making the Verano and not bringing in the Astra sedan (newer Vauxhall cars look so much better than newer Chevrolet small cars). Yes, I know you had a Corsa and not an Astra. Come to think of it, wasn’t it a limited edition Corsa :P
Anyways, here’s my car. I used to have a Cutlass that went to TheVancen.
Welcome back!

Gotta agree with you there, despite their reputation Vauxhall do build some great looking cars...the new Viva notwithstanding.
In any case, I’m glad to be back, and loving the slammed look on that Panther body! (If that is indeed a panther body, my American car knowledge is a little weak sometimes)

Yes it is a Panther! I just put up a post with pics of it on the new steelies, and I think you might like that quite a bit more.
